Food Bank - helping our community
This month students and staff have been collecting donations for the Sparkhill Food Bank. The Food Bank is a registered charity based at The Narthex Centre in Sparkhill, Birmingham. It has been running for almost five years now, and throughout 2016 provided food parcels to 4250 people, that’s approximately 55.5 tonnes. Over 90% of the food distributed is donated by the general public. (Sparkhill Food Bank).
We are currently collecting non-perishable items of food and toiletries. A few examples of the types of items you may wish to donate can include:
- Powdered Milk.
- Packets of biscuits.
- Packs of rice.
- Tinned fruit.
- Tinned vegetables/lentils/beans.
- Toiletries (soap, deodorant, face wipes, toothpaste etc).
Students have been decorating their food boxes and writing a kind message to go along with their donations for its’ recipient.
Here at Ark Boulton we highly value our virtues of charity, service and gratitude, and this is an apt way to support and give back to our local community.
The deadline for all donations is Friday 16th June 2017.
