Have a safe and enjoyable break.
Subject Spotlight - Art
This months’ ‘Subject Spotlight’ is Art, to showcase just a few highlights and snapshots of the excellent work and achievements from our students.
Year 7 have been exploring their painting skills. Students used Brian Froud as inspiration to draw and paint goblins and fairies. They will be moving onto Alice in Wonderland next. Using watercolour techniques can be tricky to get to grips with, but they’ve all risen to the challenge and have done so well! "I enjoy how much freedom we get when exploring our art techniques, especially blending using watercolour paints." Tahera Yasmin, Art Student.
Student shout out to Tasnim Uddin's amazing painterly skills.
Year 8 have been bouncing off ideas from graffiti artists Beat 13 and Beastman. Their sketchbooks show the journey they have taken developing ideas for their final pieces.
Student shout out to Farzana Hussain who has been working extra hard and has developed more sketchwork work to help improve her drawing skills further.
Our talented Year 9 have been creating clay sculptures based around Lewis Carrols’ ‘Jabberwocky’ poem. Last term they impressed us all with beautiful beetle illustrations.
"I am enjoying trying out new skills and finding out what my strengths are." Zainab Bibi, Art Student.
Year 10 GCSE students have selected their own starting points and artists, which makes each project unique to them. Mrs Moseley and Miss Crawford couldn’t be more proud of the progress these students are making, developing their own styles.
A big shout out to all of Year 11 who sat their epic ten hour exam in April. Well done to you all!
