A Very French Breakfast!

Our French students have been practicing their speaking and listening skills in a fun and innovative way. The MFL Department set up a mock shopping experience, where students were asked to pretend to purchase food for breakfast.

This activity allowed students to practice their knowledge in an environment other than the usual classroom experience. They were able to showcase their French knowledge in:

  • Greeting people and introducing yourself.
  • Asking for food items.
  • Paying the correct amount of money.
  • Practice their intonation skills (the rise and fall of the voice when speaking making the conversation more fluent and natural).

The activity simulated a real life situation and how French skills can be applied to day to day tasks. Students had a chance to include their maths skills into the mix also, by ensuring they paid the correct amount for their goods!
