Official Opening of NEW Reception Facility
On Tuesday 26th September, Principal Herminder Channa alongside David Gould (Former Regional Director of Ark Schools Birmingham and Former Principal of Ark St Albans) officially cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of the academy’s new reception facility and entrance.
We were delighted to have shared this occasion with members of staff and VIP guests, including Colin Diamond CBE, Executive Director for Education and Stella Manzie CBE, Interim Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council. Our Head Boy and Head Girl, Hamza and Tahera, addressed our guests in a short speech prepared by themselves to share what this meant to the students in the academy.
Since opening its’ doors at the beginning of September, the new facility has provided a direct and easily accessible entrance, front facing on Golden Hillock Road with a light and modern environment designed to cater to the needs of our community as a whole. The reception provides ample space for student and parent enquiries, facilities for meetings, a conference room, and practical parking for visitors.
“The opening celebrates the hard work and commitment that has gone into our journey to Ofsted rated ‘Good’ over the past two years. A milestone we have reached together as a whole community, as ‘Team Boulton’, and will continue to excel and improve towards ‘Outstanding’. We are a true community school and placing the entrance on to Golden Hillock Road will serve our community more so.” Herminder Channa.
David Gould commented, “It is a great privilege to be a part of this momentous occasion and to see the progress that has been made in such a short space of time. I always feel so welcomed here by staff and students. The students are highly articulate and always a joy to work with. We need our students to excel in this community and beyond, and the opening of this facility will only aid this, setting the tone for the community as they enter a school with high expectations and high standards of attainment.
Well done to all on completing the job, with particular thanks to Savas Ali (Ark Buildings Project Manager) and to companies MACE and VDM.”
We would also like to extend our thanks to all our guests for joining us, staff who helped organise the opening and to our student representatives for assisting with the event, especially our talented music team.
