Exciting News for the Music Team
Ark Boulton was one of 10 schools across Birmingham and Solihull to be recognised by the Birmingham Conservatoire for all of the hard work going into the music department. Over the next year, Ark Boulton Academy will be working closely with Birmingham Conservatoire on a number of exciting projects and workshops. The first being an invite to work with Conservatoire teachers and students at their new 54 million pound home in the city centre!
On the 24th January, GCSE Music students attended the Conservatoire's first 'Digital Lab', where they took part in a fabulous day of workshops, exploring how composers can use a range of technology in live music composition.
Students were able to have a hands on approach in the workshops, composing with some of the world’s most hi tech equipment, including the ‘myo’, a wristband that lets you capture, hold and physically move sound using your body (as featured in Marvel's Iron Man film). Watch an exclusive clip here. Students were also taken on a private tour around the state of the art concert halls, recording studios, live rooms and were even allowed to go into the main control centre and shown how the mixing desk operates.
"Today was mind blowing! It has made me realise that it is my dream to study here and be immersed in music technology." Saif Seid
"I want to work for the BBC and learn how to use all of this technology. Using and controlling the myo was amazing." Bilal Ali
Ms Al-Hanoush would like thank Year 10 for being so well behaved and all the staff at the Birmingham Conservatoire for opening our GCSE music student’s minds to the endless possibilities of music technology and for their inspirational composition workshops.
