Make A Difference (M.A.D) Birmingham project is a Sport Birmingham open access youth development programme. M.A.D Birmingham works with community partners, residents, parents and schools to provide a sustainable offer that has evolved from open access youth clubs and outreach services to a tailored sports-driven mentoring programme for young people.
What are M.A.D doing in Sparkbrook and Sparkhill with Ark Boulton?
M.A.D Birmingham is supporting the Step Together program. This is a Home Office funded pilot that is being delivered by West Midlands Violence Reduction Unit. The programme connects Education, Police, voluntary and community sector partners in local places across the West Midlands.
Chaperones will be provided along designated school routes at the start and end of the school day, with the aim of increasing feelings of safety and reducing incidents of violent crime. The M.A.D Team are trained mentors who will be safe, approachable and a calming presence.
