Ark Boulton Academy opened in September 2015. 

During the Summer Term 2017, the academy had its' first Section 5 Ofsted Report.

We are delighted to let you know that inspectors have rated Ark Boulton Academy as 'Good' in every category:

Effectiveness of leadership and management – Good.

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment – Good.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare – Good.

Outcomes for pupils – Good.

Some of the key achievements in the report that were highlighted were in leadership and governance; “The highly effective leadership of the principal and her senior team has ensured the school has improved substantially. Governance is a strength of the school. As a result, the quality of learning, teaching and assessment has improved significantly and the school’s policies are consistently applied.”

The excellent behaviour and progress of our students; “Pupils are polite and helpful. Staff prepare pupils well for life in modern Britain. The curriculum supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development well. The focus on the Ark Boulton virtues such as charity, honesty, courage and commitment actively promotes the development of pupils’ social skills, empathy and understanding of right and wrong.”

The quality of our teaching and learning; “Teachers have high expectations of what pupils will do and achieve. Routines and procedures are well established” and “pupils currently in the school make good progress from their starting point.”

Performance Data

Our GCSE results in August 2019 saw 59% of students achieve a pass grade in both English and Mathematics with 53% of students attaining a pass in 5+ subjects, including English and Mathematics. 

86% of students achieved a 4+ in English Literature.

75% of students achieved a 4+ in English Language.

60% of students achieved a 4+ in Mathematics.

The academy's progress 8 result increased this year and is +0.16, showing that students make progress above national expectations. The attainment 8 score of the academy was 4.3 and 12% of the Year 11 cohort achieved the English Baccalaureate. 

95% of our students when onto either Post 16 education provision or an apprenticeship / traineeship this is above both the Birmingham and national averages of 92% and 94%.

In previous years, students on average attend the academy for 96.2% of the time and on completing their secondary education at Ark Boulton, 96% of our students stayed in Education or entered employment.

In the 2019 - 2020 academic year students on average attended the academy 97% of the time.
